Norland: Our Community
St. Luke's is found in the centre of the village of Norland, above Sowerby Bridge. Its central position next to the school makes it a focal point of the village. We enjoy widespread support from the people of Norland and other nearby villages, such as Ripponden, Cottonstones and Sowerby. We like to play an active role in the village by organising and taking part in fun and interesting events that bring people together.
We have close links with our primary school, sharing special services with the children and going into school for a monthly assembly.

Norland Scarecrow Festival
We are community partners in the annual Norland Scarecrow Festival.
This well-loved event takes place during the 1st weekend of September every year. It is a wonderful long weekend for all the family organised by many local residents. You can buy a trail map and guess what the scarecrows are. There is a dfferent theme each year.
St. Luke's Church is open all day for each day of the Festival. You can find scarecrow goodies, as well as the trail map. We seem to have an endless supply of delicious homemade cakes and freshly made sandwiches which prove hard to resist. You can rest your weary legs, have a look around church and admire our scarecrow.
